Ketamine

Principles

• NMDA receptor antagonist
• Dissociative anaesthetic

Relative contraindications:

• IHD
• CCF
• Cerebrovascular disease
• Increased intracranial or intraocular pressure
• Epilepsy
• Psychotic illness

Dosage:

• Start off with 0.5mg/kg
• Can be repeated after 5 minutes
