  • Same as for gastric adenocarcinoma

Pathophysiology

  • Confined to basement membrane
  • Classify into low-grade or high-grade (or indefinite)
    • 3.5% of low-grade and 59% of high-grade progress to adenocarcinoma within a year
    • Only 4.3% of low-grade ever progressed to adenocarcinoma in one series

Management

  • Low-grade: close endoscopic monitoring, and intervention if lesions progress
    • Alternative - endoscopic resection
  • High-grade: surgical or endoscopic resection
