- Airway concerns
- Risk of aspiration
- Long/complex procedure
Monitoring
[edit | edit source]- HR, BP, oxygen at a minimum
- ECG for longer procedures or higher-risk patients
Levels of sedation
[edit | edit source]- Moderate sedation (a.k.a. conscious sedation)
- Self-ventilate
- Maintain own airway
- Respond to light physical stimuli and verbal commands
- Unpleasant procedures tolerable
Maximum without anaesthetist - 5mg midazolam and 100mcg fentanyl
