Circumcision

Technique

• Penile block infiltrated just under pubic symphysis and penoscrotal base
• Prep with foreskin retracted
• Deal with any phimosis present
• Mark extent of resection
  • Put the foreskin on tension (below the corona on the dorsal aspect, and following the natural tapering of the corona on the ventral aspect)
  • Apply artery clips transversely - haemostasis and marking
• Excise the foreskin
  • Use a scalpel/scissors to incise the skin over the marked line (external)
  • Divide along marked line circumferentially with foreskin pulled up
• Haemostasis with bipolar
• Reconstruct the two layers of the foreskin - 4/0 Vicryl Rapide interrupted - and suture down just proximal to corona
• Paraffin, combine in underwear
