Dog bites

  • Need to cover against Pasteurella multocida, Capnocytophaga, Strep viridans, Bacteroides, Fusobacterium
  • Tazocin or meropenem IV, then augmentin df or bactrim

Cat bites

  • Pasteurella multocida
  • Staphylococcus

Human bites

[edit | edit source]
  • Strep viridans
  • Staphylococcus
  • Eikenella corrodens
  • Bacteroides

Antibiotics for all the above

  • No established infection: Augmentin DF
  • Established infection IV: Tazocin OR metronidazole + ceftriaxone
    • Penicillin infection: Metronidazole + doxycycline/Bactrim DS/ciprofloxacin
