Serrated polyposis syndrome

  • Multiple polyps (hyperplastic or serrated) throughout the colon
  • We don't know much about the genetic cause yet
  • Diagnosis
    • At least 5 serrated polyps proximal to sigmoid, two of which >10mm in diameter
    • Any number of serrated polyps proximal to the sigmoid in an individual with a first-degree relative with the syndrome
    • More than 20 serrated polyps of any size distributed throughout the colon
