Pathophysiology

  • Usually non-secretory
  • Not associated with carcinoid syndrome, even when metastatic
  • Colon
    • Mostly found in 70s patients being evaluated for diarrhoea, abdominal pain, anorexia, or weight loss
    • Mostly right colon/caecum
    • Average 5cm on diagnosis
  • Rectum
    • Usually asymptomatic
    • Size correlates closely with the likelihood of metastases (24% of those >2cm)
  • Genitourinary
    • Case reports only
