Adrenal metastectomy

Adrenal metastases

  • Common due to vascularity
  • Typically occur in the setting of other extra-adrenal metastatic disease
  • Most commonly lung (NSCLC), breast, kidney (RCC), melanoma, GIT
  • Higher attenuation on CT, increased metabolic activity on PET


Metastectomy

  • Viable option in certain patients
  • Primary tumour type influences outcomes - CRC good OS

Indications

  • Isolated adrenal mets

Relative contraindications

  • Extra-adrenal mets
  • Adrenal disease invasive of surrounding tissue

Percutaneous ablation may be a better option than metastectomy
