Pyloroplasty

Principles:

  • To attenuate the pyloric sphincter without perforating mucosa
  • Pyloroplasty: divide the pyloric region longitudinally and sew up transversely
  • Pyloromyomectomy: removing part of the muscle anteriorly
  • Pyloromyotomy: dividing the muscle longitudinally

  • Some surgeons leave a drain for a few days
  • Start off with clear fluids and escalate
