- Reduced hepatic synthesis of VLDL
- Reduce resting HR and BP - could be from direct effects of cardiac eletrophysiological pathways
- Anti-thrombotic - this is more in vitro than in vivo
- Improved flow-mediated arterial dilation
- Cardiac filling and myocardial efficiency
- Insulin resistance improvement - not consistently seen in observational studies though
Outcomes
[edit | edit source]- Consumption of fish or fish oil probably significantly reduces CV mortality
- Not all studies have shown this though
- May improve non-fatal coronary events, ischaemic stroke, recurrent ventricular arrhythmias, AF, heart failure
